About Us
Our Vision & Mission
‘Our vision is to be recognised as the global leader in research excellence, innovation and education in mineral exploration.’
‘Our mission is to apply scientific research to increase both the rate and quality of discoveries made in mineral exploration, without relying on substantial increases in exploration expenditure.’
History
The Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET) was established in 2005 as an unincorporated joint venture between the minerals exploration industry, the University of Western Australia (UWA), Curtin University (CU) and the Government of Western Australia.
The Centre was founded around a vision of tackling the problems facing the exploration and mining industries through the application of cutting-edge science. Our success is built on team-based and inclusive research culture, balancing research outputs to ensure fundamental advances are aligned with application in industry.
Engagement
The CET works to encourage the adoption of best practices and cutting edge geoscience techniques across the exploration and mining industries. Towards this goal, we aim to be recognized as a global leader in education and training in exploration targeting.
CET Governance
The dedication and engagement of the CET Strategic Advisory Board and the CET Technical Working Group is central to our success. Members of these committees are nominated from industry and within our collaborative partner organisations.
The CET is part of the School of Earth Sciences and operates under UWA policies and regulations for Centres and Institutes.
Please see attached the Constitution of the Centre For Exploration Targeting Strategic Advisory Board (under revision).
Strategic Advisory Board
The CET Strategic Advisory Board provides advice to the Centre on research themes and strategic direction. Its constitution outlines its role and mission, and members are drawn from industry, academia, and government partners.
Technical Working Group
The CET Technical Working Group provides advice on the technical relevance of CET research and makes comments on new opportunities and ways to enhance the research outcomes for use by industry. Its members comprise senior industry representatives and individuals, plus colleagues from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation and the Geological Survey of Western Australia.
CET in a Nutshell
Services/Activities
The CET works to encourage the adoption of best practice and cutting edge geoscience techniques across the exploration and mining industries. Towards this goal, we aim to be recognized as a global leader in education and training in exploration targeting.
We are committed to providing world class training programmes, educating applied geoscientists to meet the demands of the modern minerals industry and enhancing Australia’s ability to compete in the global marketplace. The CET’s training succeeds by utilising eminent specialists to teach into our courses, ensuring high impact, flexibility in delivery and assessment, and maintaining our strong links with industry and academia worldwide.
