Vaclav ([ˈvaːtslaf] aka Vasek [ˈvaːshek]) is a multi-disciplinary geoscientist that has more than ten years’ experience in the mineral exploration R&D space within university and government organizations. He spent six years as remote sensing specialist at the Czech Geological Survey working on projects in Europe, Mongolia, Costa Rica, and West Africa. After moving to Australia in 2012, Vasek continued his journey with the CET for five years. Here he has successfully cooperated with the industry and government organizations on multiple projects in West Africa and Australia focused on improved regional targeting of mineral resources. He also managed to deliver and co-organize several courses together with the International Mining for Development Centre (IM4DC) in Africa as well as negotiated with government agencies in Central Africa to share data on the IM4DC open data portal.

He is now working as a research scientist at CSIRO Mineral Resources constantly looking for new challenges on how innovative methods and research methodologies can be directly applied to mineral exploration.

Vasek’s main research interests lie in integrating remote sensing, geochemical, and geophysical data with geological field observations to improve our mineral targeting approaches and more broadly the generation and understanding of the 2-4D geological models that we create.
