Jon has over 25 years industry experience in the mining and minerals exploration industry. He is currently Director of Model Earth Pty Ltd, a consultancy offering specialist geological and 3D modelling expertise. Previously, for 7 years Jon was a founding Director of Jigsaw Geoscience Pty Ltd, a group renowned for excellence in discovery of gold, nickel, and base metal deposits around the globe. Jigsaw were industry leaders in creation of fully integrated geological 3D models at deposit and terrane scales. Prior to forming Jigsaw Geoscience, Jon worked as an independent consultant (Fluid Focus Pty Ltd) for 7 years making significant contributions to the understanding of the Laverton Greenstone Belt and Coolgardie Region from which he has published papers.

Prior to embarking on a career as a consultant, Jon worked for Placer Pacific Ltd (later Placer Dome) for 8 years, initially as an UG mine geologist, then in exploration throughout Australia and overseas. He is credited with having a direct role in the discovery of the +1.5Moz Eldridge orebody at Kidston. In 1996 he joined Resolute Mining Ltd as company structural and research geologist. His work lead directly to development of the +1Moz Challenger gold mine in South Australia. He commenced consulting in 2000.

Jon graduated with a BSc (Hons) from the University of Western Australia in 1989, and completed a MSc (by thesis) at UWA on the Structural Controls at the Porgera Gold Mine PNG in 1994.

Jon’s prime research interests include: integration of structural geology into the exploration and development process, remobilisation of magmatic sulphide deposits, structural analysis of high-grade metamorphic rocks, mapping training, and optimization of geology and structure in 3D from the mine to craton scale.
