Who will make the next Greenfields Discovery
This deliberately provocative question was posed to a panel of participants at the recent AMIRA Exploration Managers conference. It prompted me to go away and interrogate the excellent the SNL Metals & Mining database and reports on recent exploration discoveries1 & 2. This data (previously collected by Metals Economic Group – MEG) compiles all sorts of discoveries and resource additions globally by commodity over the last 14 years.
Working for a fairly large copper company I decided to focus on the really significant greenfield copper discoveries we would be interested in, deposits containing more than 5Mt (~11 billion lb) of copper.
