The role of volatiles in the petrogenesis of mafic magmatism in the South East Siberian Traps
South East Siberia
This project aims to unravel the geochronological and geochemical features of the dolerite sills of the Angara Syncline, Siberia (Russia). The dolerite sills are thought to be part of the large permo-triassic Siberian Traps event, which hosts the world class Noril'sk Talnack deposit. However, existing data are not conclusive as to whether the two magmatic events are coheval.
